Illinois woman accidentally ships wedding ring to Arkansas, gets it back

Lost wedding ring reunited with owner

Last Monday, Barg Kasang, 51, lost her wedding ring on the job.

It showed up two days later — more than 600 miles away — and has now been returned to her.

On June 3, Kasang was working at Lovejoy, a transmission parts manufacturer in Downers Grove, Illinois, when she noticed her ring was missing.

"I was worried, hurt and sad," she told the Chicago Tribune. "It was traumatic. I didn't even want to tell my husband."

Her husband of 28 years, Steve, tried to reassure her, telling her that they would replace it.

The couple met and still work together at the auto parts company.

"(Steve) was pretty calm," Kasang said. "He said, 'Don't worry about it, we'll replace it.' But it's not the same. To me, it's not just a ring. It's like half of my life is in there."

Last Wednesday, Steve Anderson, a warehouse manager at Applied Industrial Technologies in Little Rock, Arkansas, called Lovejoy to say he had discovered a gold ring in his shipment of U-joints.

"After opening it up I got a surprise because on top of the wrapping was a ring. And I said, okay maybe their shipping rings with their packages now. But when I look at the ring a lot closer you could tell it was somebody's wedding ring," Anderson told KATV.

Kasang had accidentally dropped her ring into a package she was preparing for shipment.

"I've had things like that happen in my life and people have found things and gotten them back to me so I think turn about is fair play. Thing about it is I like to do what is right," said Anderson. "We wound up getting it back to them, next day air back to them and she had it back that same week. So I think everything turned out pretty good."

The ring was returned to her last Friday.

"My heart's still pounding," Kasang said of being reunited with her ring. "We got lucky. [Anderson] deserves a big blessing. There's some good people out there. You can't say enough about people like that. I think this man should really be praised."
