Irish family rescues 30 sharks from shrinking pool

Surfers are angry they weren't warned about a Great White Shark that's triggered alerts along Perth's coastline.

Jeff Williams was walking his dog along the beach in Rush, Ireland, early one morning last week when a local woman told him about young tope sharks trapped in a small tide pool nearby.

The pool was quickly drying up. If they didn't act fast, the 30 sharks would die.

Williams rushed back to his home and got his jeep, his family and a large plastic container.

They found a section of the beach they could drive on and approached the pool with the sharks.

The family used the large bucket to load the sharks, two or three at a time, into the jeep, and then drove the sharks back to the sea.

Watch the rescue below:

"We probably only had 35 minutes before the pool dried out to get them in the bucket," Williams told the Journal, emphasizing that the sharks appeared in good health and did not appear to be a threat to his family.

"It was a great experience…it was amazing. I’ve been living on that beach all my life and never come across something like that before. They normally stay out deep."

"It was just kind of a freak thing," he added. "You would have to rescue them. I knew they’d be dead – the water was well dried out and another 15 minutes later they would have [been dead]."
