Little princess tells best friend she's getting a Make-a-Wish trip to Disneyland

Juniper and Violet are best friends who are both battling the same rare form of cancer. They also shared a dream to visit "the happiest place on Earth" Disneyland. Courtney Friel reports for the KTLA 5 News at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.

Juniper and Violet are best friends.

The 3-year-old girls first met in November 2013, when they were both battling retinoblastoma, a form of cancer in the retina, at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

They quickly bonded over their mutual love of Disney characters: Violet wanted to meet Mickey Mouse, Juniper wanted to meet Minnie Mouse.

In fact, a plush Minnie Mouse was Juniper’s constant companion through her cancer treatments and recovery time, her mother told WDW Hints.

Violet got her wish in December 2013, meeting Mickey Mouse at Disneyland thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Last fall, the foundation granted Juniper’s wish, too — and recruited Violet to break the news to her.

“Juni, you’re going to Disneyland!” Violet, dressed as Cinderella, squealed.

"You’re going to twirl like a princess," she said, twirling on camera. "And do your princess pose. And wave like a princess."

Violet continued to prep her friend on what to expect, including “nose-kisses” from their favourites, Mickey and Minnie.

"Juni, I’m so happy your wish is coming true," Violet concluded. “I love you.”

Juniper made the dream-come-true trip to Disneyland in October.

Make-A-Wish decided to share Violet’s video message to her friend last week.

“The video has captured our hearts here at Make-A-Wish and we are excited to see that Violet and Juni were so enthusiastic about meeting Minnie and Mickey Mouse,” said Make-A-Wish spokesperson Josh deBerge.

"The two tiny voices of a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old paint the perfect, simple picture of what we do at Make-A-Wish every day: give hope and strength to kids battling life-threatening medical conditions, helping them feel better and sometimes, even get better."

Juniper’s mother, Danielle Ouellette, told CNN that her daughter “shut down” during treatment, especially after she lost her eye to the disease and needed to be fitted with a prosthetic eye.

The trip helped Juniper regain her confidence.

"She was so excited at Disneyland to share who she was with everyone. We couldn’t ask for better closure,” Ouellette said.

Both Violet and Juniper are now in remission.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants 14,000 wishes to children across America every year.
