Lucky ducks! Mother and ducklings safely cross Toronto highway

Why did the duck cross the road?

In May, a mother duck and her flock of ducklings attempted to cross Toronto-area Highway 407. Fortunately, the birds managed to scoot across all four lanes of traffic unscathed.

The suspenseful trip was captured on video by a CTV News Chopper cameraman. His aerial footage of the ducks' dangerous traffic-dodging mission went viral this week.

"What follows is a few tense minutes of heart-stopping footage of obligatory adorable baby duckies skipping, Frogger-style, through gaps in traffic and being scattered in all directions by wind gusts as cars and trucks speed past," CTV Toronto described.

"The video is truly amazing," Kevin Sack, vice-president of communications and government relations for the highway, told the Toronto Star.

"407 ETR offers all of its customers a fast, safe and reliable trip. In this case, our customers included a family of ducks, and we were pleased to see it work out so well."
