A bummed-out husband just proved that having a miserable time on vacation can lead to its own rewards, under the right cicrumstances.Kentucky resident Kevin Blandford recently won a trip to Puerto Rico through the telecommunications company he works for as a reward for his “extraordinary service” as a quality assurance supervisor.

Unfortunately, he and his wife, Bonnie, couldn’t leave their 7-month-old daughter behind, so Blandford ended up going on the trip with his friend, Alec, instead.

“Bringing her along was complicated due to the type of trip,” Blandford said of trying to bring a baby on vacation.

“[Bonnie] was upset that she couldn’t go,” he told BuzzFeed News.

Blandford decided to capture the misery of being on vacation without his family in a series of photos he titled “Not a single second of fun in Puerto Rico.”

‘It kind of happened organically. I was sitting there with my friend, he took a picture of me and I looked miserable,” Blandford told MailOnline Travel. 'We started talking about it and we thought it would be funny to say that I didn’t have any fun at all because Bonnie couldn’t come with me.’

His hilarious “miserable” photos from his vacation for one went viral on imgur.

“It’s crazy how much this has blown up,” he told BuzzFeed. “I’m really glad it’s made some people laugh.”

His wife appreciated the #MiserableKevin photos, but told MailOnline Travel that she was pretty sure he still had fun without her.

‘I know he truly wanted me there, but was accompanied by the next best person and I know too well they enjoyed visiting very much. I did appreciate the joke and their efforts,” Bonnie said.

The photos got the attention of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa and the Puerto Rico Tourism Agency. They teamed up to offer Blandford a redo of his “not a single second of fun” vacation and offer him “many seconds of fun” — with his wife and daughter this time.

Blandford took them up on their offer and revisited the island, recreating his famous “sad face” photos, but with his family — and big smiles — in each one. He even brought the same travel wardrobe so he could match the first set of images.

“It was amazing,” Blandford told The Huffington Post of the couple’s first trip with their baby. “My wife had a lot of fun. It was really great.”
