A Montreal-based street photographer named Mikael Theimer took to two of the world’s most romantic cities to find lovebirds “making love.”

But before you get the wrong idea, it’s not in the way you’re thinking.

“I do take pictures of people making love,” he wrote on Bored Panda, “but do you really have to be naked to make love? Isn’t a hug, a kiss, or even a smile just as much of a part as love making?”

In a photo series dubbed “Street Love” on his website, Theimer photographs the beautifully candid scenes between living in the moment and forgetting all of those around you and the person you love.

“I just like seeing people in love,” he told the Huffington Post. “I find that beautiful and pure. For a moment, nothing around them matters.”

Thiemer, who moved from Paris to Montreal “on a whim” wrote on his website that his love for for the craft isn’t so much the photography.

“It’s the things that I’m photographing,” he wrote. “The people my camera allows me to meet, the places it takes me, the situations it puts me in, the stories it uncovers.”
