NFL’s Andre Johnson spends more than $17K on toys for kids in need

Earlier this week, 12 children and their brothers and sisters ran through the aisles at a Houston Toys "R" Us, grabbing as much as they could in 80 seconds.

With the help of some cart-pushing cheerleaders, the kids, all in child protective services, racked up an impressive bill: $17,352.

The person footing the bill: Houston Texans' wide receiver Andre Johnson.

It was the Andre Johnson Foundation's seventh annual toy giveaway. Last year, he spent $19,521.14 on the fun shopping spree.

"They didn't out do the kids from last year but they came close. It was awesome," Johnson wrote on Instagram.

"It's fun," Johnson said of the giveaway. "It's fun for the kids and it's fun for me. It's something I enjoy seeing every year, so I figure why not keep doing it?"
