Police respond to burglary call, stay to help young boy with homework

Kid calls 911, gets help with his homework

In Stockholm, Sweden, an 11-year-old boy was home alone when he heard a loud thump. Convinced that a burglar was trying to break in, he called the police.

When police arrived at the scene, they found no evidence of a would-be break-in.

And because the boy’s mother had yet to return home he called her after he called police – the officers stuck around and helped him with his homework.

"He had called his mother also, but he was on his own when the police got there and they didn’t want to leave him alone, so they sat down and helped him with his multiplication tables and other homework," Viktor Adolphson of the Södermalm police told Nyheter 24.

Adolphson acknowledged that the boy was right to alert them in the first place:

”Even though it wasn’t a thief, it was a good thing to do.”

A tweeted police bulletin about the incident has been favourited more than 4,500 times.

At least the boy didn’t call 911 specifically for homework help. This little kid really wanted help with his math, and did just what his mother told him do if he needed help: he called somebody.
