On Wednesday, Toronto's controversial mayor handed over a $10,880 cheque to the Canadian Cancer Society, money raised from the sales of the second-edition Rob Ford bobbleheads in December.

During a one-day sale before Christmas, Ford and his staff sold the 1,000 official "Robbie Bobbies" for $20 apiece, promising the proceeds would go to the cancer society.

"My dad died of colon cancer. My mom had breast cancer and a mastectomy and just came out of surgery a few weeks ago," Ford said in December. "Cancer's terrible. I know everyone knows somebody who has cancer. I've seen too many people die of cancer."

The proceeds from the first 1,000 bobbleheads, sold out in November, raised money for Toronto's United Way campaign, the Toronto Sun reported.

Both editions of the dolls are selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay.

A third edition of the bobble heads, about 2,500 of them, is expected to arrive soon.

The first edition of the bobble heads sported blue suits and blue ties. The second edition of the dolls wore black suits with red ties.

"It's got a red tie now instead of a blue tie, so I’ve covered both Liberals and Conservatives," Ford said at the time.

The third-edition bobbleheads are rumoured to be clad in the mayor's chain of office.
