Scottish newlyweds hop on subway to get to wedding reception

Some couples rent limos. Others ride in horse-drawn carriages. One Scottish couple eschewed glamourous transportation options and chose to arrive at their wedding reception via public transit instead.

Malcolm and Aileen McConnell tied the knot at Glasgow's Park Circus Registry Office, them walked to the nearby Kelvingrove Park for photos.

To get to their reception at Sloan's Bar, the newlyweds then hopped onto Glasgow's subway system, with 40 wedding guests in tow.

Patrick McGuire Photography captured their day — including the headline-making subway ride that surprised both subway staff and commuters.

"A subway car isn't a typical wedding car but I'm glad we were able to add to the McConnells' special day by getting them — and their guests — to their reception in style and keeping their celebrations on track," Gordon Maclennan, chief executive of Strathclyde Passenger Transport told the DailyMail.
