Siberian fisherman’s daring dog rescue goes viral

A Siberian fisherman saved a dog stranded on ice.

Here at The Lighter Side, animal rescues tug at our heartstrings almost daily.

We've seen rescuers save a family dog from a freezing lake, a blind dog rescued from a trash pile, and a puppy freed from a drain pipe in a dramatic rescue. One Florida man even fought off an alligator to save his little dog.

And now another rescue, this one from 2010 in Siberia, is going viral.

A fisherman risked his own life, plunging into the freezing waters off Magaden Port in the Okhotsk Sea, Siberia, to rescue a dog stranded on floating ice.

The fisherman was able to reach the block of ice where the freezing dog was standing and pushed it towards his boat, where other fisherman helped the rescuer and the dog to safety.

Back on shore, the once-stranded black dog seems to be in fine form, playing with the fishermen's huskies.
