Slovaks voting to name bridge after Chuck Norris

A new pedestrian and cycling bridge spans the Morava River, connecting Slovakia and Austria. And it needs a name.

The Slovakian public is voting online for the bridge's new name. The name currently in first place, by overwhelming majority: Chuck Norris Bridge.

In distant second: Maria Theresa Bridge, named after an Austro-Hungarian empress.

The final naming decision will be made by a regional assembly in April. Fortunately for Chuck Norris fans, the "lawmakers will adhere to the people's wishes as indicated in the online ballot," NewsFeed reports.

Are you as surprised as I am that Chuck Norris' awesomeness isn't just appreciated in North America?

The martial-arts-master-turned-action-star "has become a popular source of kitschy fun among Slovaks and a mainstay for local jokes about macho strength and invincibility," Reuters reports.

Let's just hope the following Chuck Norris fact doesn't apply to bridges:

"There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives."
