Army Sergeant Shawn Jamieson, 26, decided to return to his family after two months in Afghanistan in style — stadium-food style.

Jamieson returned home a month earlier than expected and carefully planned a surprise reunion for his young family at the Brooklyn Cyclones game on Tuesday.

His strategy: to dress up as a hot dog.

Jamieson and two others dressed up as hot dogs for a fourth-inning race during the game. After he crossed the finish line, he took off his costume in front of his wife, Courtney, 23, who was at the game with their two daughters, Gabrielle, 4, and Genavieve, 6 months.

"Are you surprised?" he asked.

"Yes! What are you doing here?"

According to the Brooklyn Cyclones YouTube channel: "And when you are on Coney Island, there's just something special about the hot dogs."

"I was shocked," Courtney told the New York Daily News. "I'm freaking out. I don’t know what to say."

Also at the game were 25 other members of Jamieson's family.

Earlier this summer, a returning soldier surprised his family with a scuba reunion, three weeks before he was due to come home.

And in August of 2011, a returning soldier dressed up as a Braves catcher to surprise his wife, who was throwing the first pitch.

Have you ever been surprised by a long-gone loved one?
