Staff at a McDonald’s restaurant in England went above and beyond to put a smile on the face of one very special 93-year-old customer.

Harry Scott began visiting his local McDonald’s in Workington, Cumbria, almost every day after his wife passed away in 2013, reports The Daily Mail Online. They say retiree comes in six days a week, and is such a favourite with staff that they even have a special table reserved for him.

His usual order is a Happy Meal — he says his appetite is too small for anything larger.

To honour Scott, last week the staff decided to throw him a little surprise birthday party, complete with banners, balloons, whiskey and shortbread. They even gave him a special gift: his Happy Meals going forward will be free.

“When they threw the surprise party I had to wipe my eyes,” Scott told the Daily Mail. “The kids who come in here are mine as I don’t have any of my own. It’s company for me.”

Jack Holliday works at the McDonalds and told the Mail, “He’s a one-off. We get regular customers but he’s one that stands out. He’s bubbly and full of life, especially for a 93-year-old.”

This isn’t the first time that McDonald’s staff have gone out of their way to help someone special. Back in September, a team member at the McDonald’s in Chicago’s Union Station closed down his register so that he could help a disabled man cut up and eat his food.

When it comes to going that extra mile, it seems the folks behind the counter are the ones who are lovin’ it.
