Twin brothers, models and YouTube personalities Aaron and Austin Rhodes kicked off the new year with a moment of vulnerability.

Having already come out to most of their family, it was time to tell their father — before he found out from one of their videos.

The nervous brothers, who recently moved from Ohio to Los Angeles, confessed their fears to their father over the phone:

"I just didn’t want you to find out through YouTube and I just wanted to be able to have that conversation, because I feel like we’re close enough, and I finally feel like I’m at that point now where I’m able to tell you, and I just want to be able to have you behind us 100 percent," Austin told his dad. “I just don’t want you to not love us anymore.”

Fortunately, Mr. Rhodes doesn’t hesitate to reassure his sons, interrupting Austin’s speech:

“Stop it. Would you just stop?”

"It’s the way things are, you know," Mr. Rhodes told them. “You’re growing people. You grew up in a much different generation than me. I just don’t really know what to say. You know I love you both, that will never change. You’ve gotta live your lives. You’ve gotta do what you gotta do.”

Austin continued:

"It doesn’t change who we are as people either. I’m the exact same person. I just don’t want to feel like I can’t call you and talk to you. I still want everything to be normal."

“You are normal. What do you mean? I can’t undo being your dad,” their dad responded.

At the end of the video, Aaron told viewers that he hoped their story would encourage people to just be themselves and “just do whatever makes you happy.”

The video went viral, with more than 5 million views in less than three days.

With 2015 now here, we think it is time to finally just be ourselves. We hope by our actions today you can finish watching this video feeling encouraged and inspired. Thank you for all the support. We love you,” the brothers wrote on YouTube.

After coming out to his father, Aaron posted a photo of his dad on Instagram with the following caption:

“This is the man behind the phone call. My dad. His words will inspire so many and I can’t even begin to express how incredibly proud of him I am.”

Last summer, twins Luke and Adam Monastero also came out to their parents on camera.

"I feel like my parents’ reactions were completely better than any of us thought they were going to be, and hopefully this will show you guys that people don’t really care and your parents will love you no matter what," Luke told YouTube viewers.
