Two Saudi Arabian teens rescue 11-year-old boy from burning building

Not every story of bravery and heroism concludes with a reward from the king — but this one does.

This past spring, two Saudi Arabian teens in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah, near Mecca, climbed a burning building to reach an 11-year-old boy trapped inside on the second floor.

The teens smashed open a window and dragged the boy out of the building. Emirates 24/7 reports that the child "was dangled down to safety on a ladder with the help of other teenagers."

The rescue mission was completed just as emergency crews arrived on the scene.

"It was a heroic operation by those Saudi young men, who saved the life of that boy," a Kabar newspaper wrote.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia gave the two young men SAR 1 million ($263,273.00 CAD) each for their "heroic act," the London-based Saudi Arabic language daily Alsharqalawsat said.

Teenagers are awesome.
