U.S. President Barack Obama crashes Iowa wedding, leaves gift

Jon and Sayli Gibbs wed on September 1st at Iowa's Living History Farms — the same day President Barack Obama attended a last-minute rally at the same location.

Because of tight security, they couldn't get into the parking lot that morning.

"We had to walk across Hickman with my wedding dress and suitcase," Sayli told ABC 5. "We had about three different girls helping carrying it."

The newlyweds' day went off without a hitch — the rally concluded before the wedding began, and both the staff and secret service were gracious about the double-booking — and was blessed with what Jon called "the presidential seal."

Obama left the couple a silver tray, a mint julep cup, and a handwritten note that read:

"Congratulations on the wedding. Michelle and I wish you a great life together. Barack Obama."

See a photo of the gifts here.

Jon told ABC 5 that he made a mint julep that night to celebrate.

While the Gibbs aren't registered Democrats, they still consider the president's best wishes "the coolest gift ever."

"Love him or hate him, it's a gift from the president," Jon said.
