Video: Baby moose freed from gate in Quesnel, B.C.

A baby moose was freed after getting his front hooves stuck in a wooden gate.

Last month, a baby moose got stuck after unsuccessfully jumping over a residential fence in Quesnel, small city that is part of the Cariboo District of northern B.C.

"You get around the corner to see two hooves sticking out of the fence … and on the other side, the longest, distressed little face, with the biggest brown eyes ever seen … apparently he had tried to jump the gate to our fence ... but didn't get the needed height," YouTube user ShadoHHR wrote in the video description.

Fortunately for the scared moose, local residents came to its rescue, chipping away at the wood until the moose could get free.

A video of the rescue — and the moose's dazed response to newfound freedom — went viral.

Moral of the story: Jump higher next time, little moose.
