Wheel of Fortune contestant appears to throw round so fellow veteran can win

Avid Wheel of Fortune viewers witnessed a very strange final round for the Tuesday evening show, with many calling it one of the best rounds the show has seen.

In its first ever ‘Veterans Week’ special, three service members shared the contestant booths, with Nura Fountano leading comfortably with more than $13,000 heading into the final round.

The answer for the final puzzle was “Following Footprints,” and when it came to Fountano to guess a letter, her responses of “Z” and “X” confused viewers and host Pat Sajak alike. At one point, Fountano neglects to guess anything and just passes.

This allows the first contestant to guess the puzzle and take home $6,400, when he could have left with nothing.

“Now, may I ask you a question?” Sajak asked Fountano, to which she obliged. “Now, you called some unusual letters in that round.”

“That’s what I saw” replied Fountano, shrugging it off like it was nothing.

“Well, that was an unsatisfactory answer, but she’s not under oath and there’s nothing I can do,” said Sajak jokingly as he congratulated Fountano.

Do you think Fountano threw the round so her fellow veterans could take home some cash?
