Explosion interrupts live Anderson Cooper report (VIDEO)

CNN's Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer traveled to Gaza over the weekend to cover the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas, and one of Cooper's first reports from the region was interrupted by rocket fire.

Cooper was reporting live from Gaza on Sunday when an explosion caused him to duck for cover.

"Whoa," he said, looking back at the blast. "That was a rather large explosion."

A flash of light could be seen shortly before the explosion sent Cooper scrambling. The CNN star stood up and laughed nervously, telling anchor Don Lemon that the blast—the largest he had heard since his arrival on Sunday—set off a number of car alarms.

"There's a lot of fear," Cooper added. "People are bone-tired. You know, this has been going on for days now. There's this constant sound of the drones. It is a very eerie feeling."

Blitzer, meanwhile, tweeted that sirens and several "loud booms" in Ashkelon sent him scrambling into a shelter. "Iron Dome apparently worked," he wrote.

On Monday, Blitzer will anchor "The Situation Room" live from Jerusalem, while Cooper will host his prime-time show from Gaza City.
