It turns out we weren't the only ones with our money on Ryan Gosling for "Sexiest Man Alive." On the eve of People magazine's big announcement, George Clooney told "Extra" that Gosling would take home the title.

"It's gotta be Ryan, don't you think?" asked Clooney at the L.A. premiere of "The Descendents" on Tuesday. "He's been training and working so hard for it. Ryan Gosling really wants it."

Clooney, who won the title twice (in 1997 and 2006), joked that he trained his "Ides of March" co-star to win. "The whole time we were on the set of 'Ides,' he was like, 'How did you pull that off?' So I called up Brad Pitt and we worked with him for weeks on the walk, we told him how to train, everything."

Unfortunately, Clooney's training was all for naught, as Bradley Cooper was declared "Sexiest" on Wednesday.  Perhaps Clooney will join the protest to get his trainee the win?
