Justin Bieber busks in Stratford, Ont., just like he did as a child

As Justin Bieber's career gets bigger and bigger, his hometown of Stratford, Ont., remains vocal that he is one of their own. Recently, it turns out, the hometown pride goes both ways.

Recently in Toronto for the MuchMusic Video Awards, Bieber stopped by the small town, which is internationally renowned for its Shakespeare festival. On Saturday, theatregoers during the intermission of a matinee performance of "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" (no, this one isn't Shakespeare) were greeted with more music coming from the street: Bieber was giving an impromptu performance of "Baby" on the same steps where he used to busk as a kid.

Festival representatives say they had no idea the pop superstar, whose latest album "Believe" drops today, had planned such a surprise for his former neighbours.

But that's not the only bit of hometown love Bieber had this weekend. Also on Saturday, he surprised girlfriend Selena Gomez with a helicopter tour of the Greater Toronto Area, which passed over Niagara Falls and Stratford.

Considering most 18-year-olds can't wait to get out of their hometowns, it's nice to see that Bieber still has time for his!
