Justin Bieber's new year has gotten off to a bumpy start after a paparazzo died taking photos of the "Boyfriend" singer's car.
The photographer passed away at a Los Angeles hospital on Tuesday after being hit by a car when he had finished taking photos of the Canadian pop star's white Ferrari. Bieber was reportedly not in the vehicle at the time though he did issue condolences to the victim's family.

"While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim," he said in a statement. "Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves."
This is not the first time the 18-year-old Ontario native has inadvertently caused an accident. In August, Bieber narrowly avoided getting into a crash of his own after two paps collided while chasing his Fisker Karma. The star was reportedly stopped at some L.A. traffic lights speaking to a police officer when the two photographers crashed into each other while rushing to the scene.
Luckily, no one was injured in that incident.
The same cannot be said for a number of Australian fans who were trampled in a stampede to see the Biebz on a morning show two years ago. In April 2010, "Sunrise" morning show producers had to cancel the musician's gig when thousands of fans surged towards the stage, crushing Beliebers in the front row. More than 100 teens were reportedly pulled out of the throng for treatment.
Bieber himself is not immune to injury either. In May, he lost a shoe after reportedly getting into a scuffle with a pap who was trying to snap him and girlfriend Selena Gomez after they left a movie theatre in L.A. Not to mention all those times the Bieb has hit his head while walking into doors.
Let's all resolve to be a little safer in 2013, shall we?
