Ryan Gosling may have never been named the Sexiest Man Alive, but the men who have clearly think he's doing them all a favor.

Adam Levine was named People's Sexiest Man Alive on Wednesday. In an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that same day he thanked the Canadian actor. "Ryan Gosling, thank you for turning this down constantly, that really helped my campaign," he said as he stood at a makeshift podium and addressed the late night audience.

The only Canucks on the list this year happened to be twin "Property Brothers" Jonathan and Drew Scott. "We're completely humbled and flattered to be included on People's list," Drew told ET Canada. "I mean to be amongst so many amazing talented -- and good looking -- guys, that's pretty awesome."

Levine is not the first honoree to address Gosling's failure to win. Two years ago Sexiest Man Alive Bradley Cooper also tipped his hat to the Ontario native. "I called my agent and said, 'Ryan Gosling must have said no,'" he told the Mirror.

Last year Gosling addressed the fact that his fans protested outside the People Magazine offices in November 2011 following Cooper's win. "I voted for Bradley and I'm glad he won," he quipped to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 33-year-old "Drive" star has been passed over for the award multiple times. In 2010, Ryan Reynolds became the first Canadian winner. "This gives my family entire into teasing me for the rest of my life," he told People at the time.

Perhaps that's the reason Gosling has never really wanted it for himself.
