Pulse of Canada: What rules should the next pope change?

The selection of a new pope seems like as good a time as any for changes to the Catholic Church. But while most practicing Catholics in Canada and the U.S. might want the church’s new leader to shepherd in some more liberal views, they are likely not holding their breath.

Will priests be allowed to marry? Will women be accepted as ordained ministers? How about accepting gay marriage or birth control? We asked Yahoo! Canada readers on Facebook what changes they would like to see from the Catholic Church and here is what they said:

Gay marriage, if a pope can resign, then love shouldn't be limited. - Ernie Maytwayashing

"There is only one change and that is for Priests to be allowed to marry. As far as women priests, Birth control those are not church laws they are Christ's laws and cannot be changed!" - Elizabeth Lepage

Priests should be able to marry; women should be ordained and they should rid of some of the ritualistic practices. - Sandra Cuzzolino-Karastergios

"This is about change? so want I want to see is, if a crime is committed from these group of people, they should go to jail like anyone else." - Naldo Pervera

Maybe if they were allowed to be married the clergy would not molest as many kids ?...just a thought - Melissa YogiMinded Quinton
