The Popinator: your solution to butter-free hands while eating popcorn

Skeptics, read no further: many of you are likely about to tell me that this voice-activated popcorn cannon isn't real. And while it's hard to tell whether or not The Popinator is a real thing or just a clever marketing campaign, I don't want to hear it. The idea of having a machine feed me popcorn keeping my hands free of butter is just too tempting to chalk up to well-executed video editing and camera tricks.

Popcorn company Popcorn, Indiana has released a video showcasing their new invention, The Popinator. For those who don't want to sully their hands with greasy kernels, you simply say "POP" and using a specialized microphone array on the front of the machine, Engadget explains, the machine locates where your mouth is and shoots out a popcorn morsel straight at you.

Judge the veracity of the product in this video:

A sales representative for Popcorn, Indiana says that The Popinator is still just a prototype, Mashable reports, and there's no word yet on what this nifty gadget would cost. Whether this is just a cool marketing video by a popcorn company or something we can all look forward to as a future snacking experience, you have to admit, it does look like it would be an awful lot of fun.
