Ramos, the world’s most annoying alarm clock, given a run for its money

Anyone who has ever had trouble getting up in the morning knows how difficult it is to find an alarm clock that will get the job done. Sometimes, waking up to a minorly-irritating buzzing with the option to hit 'snooze' just doesn't cut it.

If you're one of those people, a New Jersey inventor thinks he's come up with a solution.

Paul Sammut, a 25-year-old engineer in New Jersey, has put together this short film on his creation, the world's 'worst' alarm clock called the Ramos. To turn it off, you need to get out of bed and key in a code on the panel, installed in another room:

Sammut says that he uses the clock every day and it's the only thing he's found that can replace the effectiveness of his mother who used to wake him up in high school.

"Now I wake up before it goes off," said Sammut in a Daily Mail article. "I subconsciously fear it and know I have to get up."

Sammut says that since posting about his invention on Kickstarter nearly two months ago, he's raised over $150,000 towards building it.

If Sammut's $200 clock is too pricey for you, however, there are other options to help you get out of bed in the morning:

Clocky, the rolling alarm clock

This alarm clock, which was featured in Sammut's video as something that didn't work for him, may be just what other people are looking for. Clocky is an alarm clock on wheels that rolls away when it starts going off, forcing you to chase it around the room before you can turn it off. You also have the option to disable snooze, so you won't have a choice but to find Clocky and put a stop to its "loud R2D2-like robotic sound."

Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker

Those looking for a more forceful, whole body experience, this could be your answer. The Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock has a maximum loudness of 113 decibels. According to ThinkGeek, that's about 13 more decibels than a jackhammer. The separate bed shaker plugs into your clock, then is slid under the mattress to vibrate you awake.

Shape Up Dumbbell Alarm Clock

If you have trouble getting up in the morning and making it to the gym, there's the alarm clock that makes you work out before it will stop ringing. To turn off the buzzing on the Shape Up, you need to do 30 repetitions before it will turn off. At one kilogram (2.2 pounds), it won't make up for a real workout, but it could get your blood pumping in the morning.

Wake 'n' Bacon

Finally, some intrepid inventors have created a fire hazard alarm that takes a much friendlier approach to getting you up in the morning. Matty Sallin and his friends took a cheap alarm clock, combined it with a wooden pig-shaped box, a metal tray and a pair of halogen lightbulbs and combined them to make the Wake 'n' Bacon, which uses pre-cooked strips of porky goodness to gently wake you up with the smell of cooking bacon.
