New video shows awesome potential of Google Glass – but don’t be a ‘glasshole’

Google Glass might not have had as much face time at this year’s Google I/O keynote presentation, but it’s still top of people’s minds as the tech giant rolls out the device to the ‘Explorer’ group who have been chosen to start using the product. And as we see more and more people start sporting the heads-up display, it’s leading some to speculate how life will change once many more people start using Google Glass.

Playground Labs, a digital creative agency, put together this short film speculating on the question, “what if we had Glass?” and exploring a world where Google Glass is integrated into pretty much every aspect of our lives:

In their accompanying blog post, Playground explains that while all of the things they feature are technically possible, the current battery life and API platform limit what can actually be made to run on Glass. But as both the platform and available battery technology will inevitably improve, it will make it possible to do all the things shown in the video, plus much more.

But as with any new technology and all the wonderful possibilities it brings, it also introduces all sorts of new ways to annoy friends, alienate strangers and consume our time in unconstructive ways. Mashable has acknowledged the benefits of Glass in numerous articles, but also put together this short video showing the ways that Google Glass can turn you into a ‘glasshole’ (mild language used in video):

So be sure to remember your manners as you don Google Glass and embark on a whole new adventure filled with technological possibilities.
