Ben Falcone Explains His Cameos in Wife Melissa McCarthy’s Films

Ben Falcone has made cameos in some of the best movies featuring his famous wife, Melissa McCarthy , like "Bridesmaids," "The Heat," and "Identity Thief."

But while his wife is the star, he says he's just happy to make it in the film at all.

Falcone ended up in "Identity Thief" on a whim, he told "The Insider" correspondent Keltie Knight at the Variety brunch in Palm Springs over the weekend. He was in Atlanta, where the movie was being filmed "because we go as a troop, us and our two kids," he recalled. Director Seth Gordon "said, 'Do you want to do a thing?' And I said, 'Sure.'"

While his appearances were not planned and were very small roles, he admitted that he was OK with any part at all if it allowed him to speak with grown-ups rather than just his kids, Vivian, 6, and Georgette, 3.

"When I'm with Melissa and she's working these long hours, a lot of times I'm talking to little munchkins all day," he said. "So I'm like, 'Oh, I can talk to adults.' 'Oh, you'd be a hotel clerk.' 'Oh, sure, whatever you want.'"
