Child star Corey Feldman is back in the spotlight for ‘Dancing on Ice’
Corey Feldman appears to be standing by the King of Pop -- or standing by his style, anyway.
The 40-year-old former child star has stepped back into the limelight this week as a contestant on the U.K. reality show "Dancing on Ice," which debuts this weekend. And a newly released promo photo suggests that Feldman's style icon remains his late friend Michael Jackson.
Gone are the bushy eyebrows, the feathered sun-kissed hair, and the chubby cheeks Feldman sported in "The Lost Boys," "Stand By Me," and "The Goonies," the beloved '80s classics that launched him to fame as a teen. In their place is an adult nod to Jacko's style from the same era, including gelled hair, with one long tendril hanging down. Feldman's eyebrows have clearly been plucked, and his jaw appears thinner (he has admitted to having had liposuction in the past) as he poses in his shiny red skating outfit with partner Brooke Castile.
This is not the first time Feldman has borrowed Jackson's look. He wore a King of Pop-style fedora and soldier jacket as early as 1987, and he donned a similar outfit for Jackson's memorial in 2009.
The duo became friends in the early '80s, before Feldman hit it big. Feldman admitted at Jackson's memorial that they fell out in the early 2000s, around the time the actor was struggling through B-movies ("Bordello of Blood" or "My Life as a Troll," anyone?) and the aftermath of a lengthy drug addiction.
But if Feldman's latest tweet is to be believed, things are looking up for him.
"HAPPY 2012 EVERYONE!" he wrote on Monday, before announcing his "Dancing" gig. "This NEW YEARs starting off with a BANG!"
