First she was too ugly, now she's too pretty. How can Alexa Ray Joel win?

Christie Brinkley has reportedly lashed out against gossip mongers who claim her daughter, who recently showed up at New York Fashion Week looking radiant, has had work done. Rumours have been circulating that Billy Joel's little girl has had surgery on her face and her chest.

“My daughter Alexis, we call a late bloomer and she has blossomed so stunningly," Brinkley told Anderson Cooper, adding that after being criticized for her non-supermodel looks as a kid, Alexa is now being forced to face critics who claim, "‘Oh she’s too beautiful, she bought it all, it’s all plastic surgery,’… She happens to be endowed very generously."

The 27-year-old singer, who shares her father's looks more than her model mother's, stunned audiences Tuesday when she showed up in dramatic eye makeup to the Elie Tahari Fall fashion show. That same day, she was blushingly beautiful in red and pink at the Badgley Mischka show.

Alexa first hit 2013 New York Fashion Week last Thursday, showing off her curves in a two-toned frock at the BCBGMAXAZRIA catwalk. The day after that, she hit the Project Runway show as well as Charlotte Ronson's Fall 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Presentation. On Saturday, she broke out a black fur coat for the Herve Leger by Max Azria event and she rounded out the weekend with an appearance at the Custo Barcelona show on Sunday.

"I think my ex-husband and my daughter are both beautiful, talented, wonderful, and it really hurt to see the nasty criticism, the nasty writing, it hurts," Brinkley said. "It bothers me as a human that our society has gotten to this level."

Despite the differences in their appearance, Alexa took over from her mom as a spokesperon for Prell shampoo three years ago (Brinkley modeled for the company in the '80s). At least some of us appreciate her beauty!
