Demi Lovato had to watch that jaw-dropping Miley Cyrus performance at the VMAs on playback.

Though she was nominated for Best Female Video for "Heart Attack," Demi skipped the awards show in NYC to spend a day at Disneyland with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

The two were joined by some of his family members and, of course, a Disney guide to take them around the park. You wouldn't expect celebrities to brave the crowds alone, would you?

While visiting the happiest place on earth, the "X Factor" judge really got into the Disney spirit, sporting glittery mouse ears and chowing down on a turkey leg.

Lovato, 21, and Valderrama, 33, have long been friends and, at times, something more. They reportedly began dating in 2010, broke up several times, and have been linked as recently as June.

Last week, he sent her a heartfelt message on Twitter in honor of a her milestone birthday on August 20, which she spent in Africa on a volunteer trip for the charity Free the Children.

Valderrama doesn't reserve his adoration for Lovato for special occasions. He gushed about her in a 2012 interview with Perez Hilton.

"We were really just best friends and to be honest I couldn't be more proud of her," he said. "She's a great human being. I was very proud to be there for her when she needed me and she was there for me a number of times too."
