Edward Furlong jokes that he became a ‘crack whore’ after ‘Terminator 2′

Talk about judgment day: In a new interview, former child star Edward Furlong made so many drug jokes it was hard not to take them seriously.

Talking to Moviefone Canada ahead of his Toronto Comicon appearance over the weekend, the "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" star quipped that he spent time as a "crack whore" over the past decade.

Furlong's jokes just kept on coming after the reporter asked what he'd been up to since 1998's "American History X," his last movie that seemed to make a splash.

"After selling my body for crack for a couple of years . . . " the actor replied. "No, no, I'm just joking."

In fact, Furlong has been strictly B-list since he appeared in the minor hit "Detroit Rock City" in 1999. His films after that include such fare as "The Crow: Wicked Prayer," "The Covenant: Brotherhood of Evil," and "Night of the Demons" -- though he did pop up in "The Green Hornet" as, no joke, a drug manufacturer.

"I still do stuff. I guess it's just not as big as I used to get," he admitted.

Furlong was, of course, referring to the 1991 blockbuster "T2," in which he played the young John Connor. Despite the fact that most of us remember his squeaky voice and skater hair like it was yesterday, Furlong had trouble recalling his biggest hit.

"I was so young at the time, only 13," he said. "And the amount of pot I've smoked in my life . . . "

It's less funny when you know Furlong has fought a public battle with substance abuse over the past decade. Not long after being hospitalized for a suspected heroin overdose in 2001 (he later told People that he was addicted to heroin and cocaine for four years starting at the age of 22), he was arrested for a DUI. Three years later, he was cuffed again for public intoxication while filming the indie movie "Jimmy and Judy."

In the midst of it all, Furlong married actress Rachael Bella in 2006, with whom he had a son that same year. Three years later she filed for divorce followed by a restraining order, claiming her ex threatened to kill himself.

After all that, it's a miracle Furlong's still alive.

"So far!" he quipped to Moviefone. "I'm alive today, and that's good. I feel very blessed."
