How can someone be married for 20 years without even knowing it? You'll have to ask Janeane Garofalo.
The 48-year-old comedian got a shock over the weekend after learning a two-decades-old joke with "The Ben Stiller Show" writer Rob Cohen wasn't much of a joke after all.
"We dated for a year, and we got married at a drive-through chapel in a cab," Garofalo told the New York Post. "[We thought] you have to go down to the courthouse and sign papers and stuff, so who knew?"

The duo only discovered they were actually bound after Cohen, who is now a producer on "The Big Bang Theory," decided to get married for real and his lawyer "dug up something."
A notary at a TD Bank in midtown Manhattan dissolved their Vegas nuptials "not 30 minutes before" Garofalo and Cohen arrived at the 20-year New York Comedy Festival reunion for "The Ben Stiller Show" this weekend, where they partied with Stiller, Judd Apatow, and Andy Dick.
"I'm gonna get all of that 'Reality Bites' money!" Cohen joked after the split, in reference to Garofalo's hit film from 1994.
Since appearing in "Reality Bites," Garofalo has gone on to find success on the small screen, first joining the cast of "Saturday Night Live" and then earning two Emmy nods for her role in "The Larry Sanders Show." In the 2000s, she went on to appear on "The West Wing" and "24" before becoming the co-host of Air America's "The Majority Report" radio show in 2004.
Last year, Garofalo became a regular in the "Criminal Minds" spinoff "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," though it was eventually cancelled. She now appears in the Adult Swim comedy "Delocated," which is currently in its third season.
