Leonardo DiCaprio’s New Girlfriend Margot Robbie: 5 Things to Know About Her

Leonardo DiCaprio and beautiful women seem to go together quite swimmingly.

Just a few months after splitting with Victoria’s Secret model Erin Heatherton, the “Django Unchained” actor has another blonde beauty in his arms: Australian actress Margot Robbie. The new couple was snapped embracing on a balcony in Miami, where the 38-year-old has been kicking back with pals Jonah Hill and Bradley Cooper … and a bunch of other (sometimes topless) ladies.

American audiences may not be so aware of the 22-year-old, who co-starred with Christina Ricci on the short-lived 2011 ABC drama, “Pan Am,” but she has been a rising star in her native country since she was a teen on the popular soap opera, “Neighbours.”

Here are five more things to know about the young woman who “might” be Leo’s new leading lady:

She Grew Up On a Farm: Doesn’t every guy want a girl who can rough it? Margot spent her formative years on her grandparents’ farm located on Australia’s Gold Coast. “I’m happiest when I’m surfing or out on the farm hunting wild pigs, building cubbies out in the paddocks or riding around on motorbikes,” she said in an interview with “Neighbors” official website in 2008. But her grandparents were still very protective of her. In a 2009 interview with GoldCoast.com, the then-18-year-old said that her grandfather was freaked out by her steamy scenes because he believed she was “having sex on TV.”

She’s Adventurous: For her 18th birthday in July 2008, Margot jumped out a plane and skydived over the Gold Coast… and then headed straight to her party. “I always have to be doing something,” she said in 2008. “If I’m not at home I have to be at the beach surfing … I bought my first board at a garage sale when I was about ten. I also love jet skiing and snowboarding… And I’m a real rev-head. I love V8 cars.”

She Has Always Wanted to Become a Hollywood Star: Growing up in Australia, Margot longed to see her name in lights in the States… and what better way than becoming Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, right? In 2010, she left her native country to live with former co-star Caitlin Stasey, whose couch she called home. After arriving in L.A. for pilot season, she auditioned for a role on “Charlie’s Angels,” but producers liked her better for their other series, “Pan Am” and cast her as flight attendant, Laura Cameron. “I’ve got big, big dreams for the future,” she revealed in 2009. “I want to go to L.A. and be a massive actor over there.” Time will tell if that becomes true …

She Was Christina Ricci’s Roommate: While filming “Pan Am” in New York City, Margot saved some money in the real estate department by living with her co-star in Brooklyn. Ricci, who kept her home in Los Angeles (where her boyfriend and her dogs remained), told Bullett in 2011 that she wasn’t worried about sharing a space with Margot because they were so compatible. “She’s much more laid-back and relaxed than I am. I’m so high-strung, but she likes it because with me, it’s impossible to be late for anything. And Margot tells me to just look at her each time I feel anxious, which always calms me down. So we’re really a good match.”

She Plays Leo’s Wife in “The Wolf of Wall Street”: The two actors took their onscreen romance off after playing husband and wife in the upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed flick, which also stars Hill and Matthew McConaughey. Leo’s character, Jordan Belfort, a real-life New York City stockbroker who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case, first gets together with Margot’s Nadine character while he’s married (and his wife catches them in the act). Later in the movie, the two have sex on top of a huge pile of money, according to Business Insider, which saw the script.

On the last day of filming on December 17, Margot tweeted, “Going to miss my wolf pack!!”… but it looks like she hasn’t been missing everyone, as her and Leo haven’t spent much time apart since then
