Fewer voters satisfied with presidential choices this year

A new nationwide poll of likely voters from Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has some bad news for both parties:

Just over half (54%) say they are either very or fairly satisfied with the presidential choices this year, while 40% say they are not too or not at all satisfied. The percentage expressing satisfaction with the candidates is now lower than it has been in any election since 1992.

Compare this year's survey to September 2008, when 72 percent of voters said they were satisfied with their choices.

Between members of both major parties, there appears to be more enthusiasm on the Democratic side, but the numbers are still below recent election cycles. Sixty-six percent of Democrats say they are satisfied with the candidate options, compared to 57 percent of Republicans.
