Blood Donor Clinic falls short of target

·1 min read

A recent blood donor clinic in Dundalk on Sept. 18 fell short of its goal.

The problem was that although all the appointments were booked, a number of people missed their appointments.

Elaine St.-Pierre of Canadian Blood Services said it’s great to be fully booked, since with COVID-19 the clinics are appointment only with no walk-ins.

But that means it’s even more important to cancel an appointment if you can’t make it so someone else can take that slot.

“Our goal for the day was to collect 58 blood donations, yet we collected slightly less than that at 52, as we did have quite a few people not show up for their appointment,” she said.

Organizers are looking forward to seeing donors in the Dundalk area at the next clinic, which will be on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Highpoint Community School.

“If you’re in general good health,” she added, “please book and honour your appointment.”

There is an app called GiveBlood app, or you can call 1 888 2DONATE (1 888 236 6283) or at the website.
