Blue collar workers demonstrate after holding special union meeting

Hundreds of Montreal's blue collar workers demonstrated outside the home of the city's general-manager Wednesday night.

After holding a special union meeting at Claude-Robillard sports centre, about 20 buses took the workers downtown in to protest provincial legislation on pension reform.

The workers blocked traffic on Sherbrooke Street.

"Montrealers, like us, are sick of corruption, collusion and excessive outsourcing," said Chantal Racette, the president of Montreal's blue collar union.

"We are taking on the responsibility to shake Montrealers awake so they are made aware of the irresponsible way Mayor Coderre is managing public money."
