Body cam footage shows moment a police officer saves a suspect from burning vehicle

Get up close and personal with this first-person footage of a police officer performing a heroic rescue in the line of duty.

The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) uploaded dramatic body cam footage to its Facebook page showing the moment officer Taser Axon sprang into action to save a robbery suspect from a burning car.

The chaotic incident occurred following a call to the FWPD about three possibly armed suspects fleeing the scene of a robbery in a silver sedan, reports WFAA.

A high-speed pursuit ended with the suspect’s vehicle crashing in the middle of an intersection. One suspect fled on foot and another was immediately apprehended, but the third man sitting in the passenger seat was unable to free himself following the collision as the car erupted into flames.

That’s when Axon and his colleagues began attempting to free the possibly armed suspect from the car.

The police were eventually able to free the unconscious man from the burning vehicle before time ran out.

“It was pretty dramatic,’ FWPD Seargent Marc Povero told WFAA. "We recruit people that can think on the fly, think quickly, and perform under pressure.”
