Provincial police have identified the body of a 43-year-old woman found in a burned house last night, in Sorel-Tracy, Que.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says firefighters were called to the home on Turcotte Street just after 11:30 p.m. and found the body of Audrey-Sabrina Gratton inside.

Radio-Canada spoke to her stepfather, Jacques Gratton, who rushed to the scene with her mother.

"I only found out on Facebook when I woke up this morning," Gratton said. Condolences messages had flooded his Facebook page, he added.

Officers found a man nearby suffering from second- and third-degree burns. He was transported to hospital.

SQ spokesperson Nicholas Scholtus called the man a  "person of interest."

"He needs medical attention. When he is going to be able to, he's going to be questioned by investigators," Scholtus said.

The circumstances of the fire are not yet known. Scholtus says forensics and fire investigators are on the scene and that an autopsy will be performed on the victim in the coming days.
