Body found after fire destroys Kelowna home

60-year-old woman arrested following 6 suspicious fires in North Okanagan

One person is dead after a house fire in Kelowna on Saturday.

The local fire department responded to the blaze on Stockwell Avenue around 7 a.m., according to RCMP. A statement said the home was "fully engulfed" by the flames.

Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said a body was later discovered inside the house. Police have yet to release the identity of the person, pending notification of next of kin.

On Sunday, the officer said the death and "circumstances surrounding the fire" were considered suspicious.
