Authorities have found a body while searching for Jenny Hastings, the wife of former Scottish rugby star Scott Hastings.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, a woman’s body was discovered in the Hound Point area of South Queensferry near Edinburgh, about five miles away from where the 60-year-old woman went missing while wild swimming in Wardie Bay four days earlier, the BBC reported.

The body has not been formally identified, but Hastings’ family was notified of the development, per the news outlet.

The Scottish Police Authority did not immediately return PEOPLE's request for comment.

The news comes days after the mother of two was reported missing shortly before 3 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE at the time, the U.K. Coastguard said it was alerted to a "report of concern" at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday and "coordinated the search for a woman in the water at Wardie Bay, Edinburgh."

"The HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick was sent as well as Coastguard Rescue Teams from Fisherrow and South Queensferry. The RNLI's inshore lifeboats from Kinghorn and South Queensferry supported, as well as nearby vessels. The HM Coastguard search was stood down at 8:20 p.m. on 3 September," the statement added.

Police in Scotland told PEOPLE that they received a report of concern for a woman in the water and that searches for the missing woman were ongoing.

A family statement obtained by the Edinburgh Evening News said that Jenny “struggled with her mental health” and added: "She loved the water but unfortunately, her mind was not in a place of safety."

"The Hastings family are absolutely heart broken," the statement read. "Jenny and Scott have a huge following of friends from all walks of life including those that work in the media and we ask that at this moment in time we are allowed to grieve privately with family members."

The statement continued, "For the time being we request that you hold off from messaging us directly and/or posting on any social media until further news. We know that you all care for us deeply and as soon as we hear any update from the police we will advise you accordingly."

The statement concluded, "We miss our Jenny. She leaves a gaping hole in all our hearts and hope that she is returned to us safely so that we can celebrate her remarkable life."

In 2016, the Hastings were announced as ambassadors for the Support in Mind Scotland charity, which is now called Change Mental Health, The Herald reported.
