Body found in St. John's gravel pit identified as Mohamed Salim

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has confirmed that a body found off the Trans-Canada Highway in St. John's is that of missing man Mohamed Salim.

Police officers were called to a gravel pit near an Irving gas station on the boundary between the city and Conception Bay South on Friday.

The body was discovered at 8 a.m. by a man who was doing work in the area, police said.

Salim, 28, was wanted by the RNC for his alleged involvement in four home invasions and one break and enter in February.

The Toronto man was last seen in the area of Dawes Road in Paradise, near where a home invasion had occurred.

His death is not suspicious.
