This Body Lotion Has Been a Game Changer for My Dry-AF Skin

From Cosmopolitan

You know how intense LeBron James is about basketball? That's how I am about my body care. I'm telling you, my love runs deep. Like, my facial skincare routine is about three steps max, but when it comes to the skin below my neck, I go all out. I'm talking dry brushing before I hop in the shower, peels and body scrubs once I'm in, and lotions and oils after I've lightly toweled off. It's all about feeling nice, you know? And while I don't go through my entire routine every single day, there's one step that I will never, ever skip: body lotion.

I joke with my friends that I literally came out of the womb rubbing lotion on my body. But, lowkey, it's not not true. While a lot of people started using body lotion ~later in life~, it's been a staple in my bathroom since I was a little kid. My parents were not about to have their kids running around looking dry and ashy.

So when I tried celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo's new Revitalizing Body Moisturizer, I knew I'd hit the jackpot. It takes a lot to impress me—especially when it comes to lotions—and this one checks off every damn box. Keep reading to find out why I'm so obsessed with this lotion (and, you know, why you're about to be too).

The texture is unmatched.

When it comes to the feel of this lotion, it actually leans more like a lightweight serum than a heavy-duty cream. There's no shine, no stickiness—in fact, it kind of feels like nothing at all (in, like, a really good way). After applying it, you could slip on a pair of skinny jeans or slide onto a vinyl couch without any unpleasant friction.

Don't get confused, though—it might be featherlight, but trust me, the formula gets the job done. When I first tried it, I was lowkey shook. It's delicate, but it doesn't feel paper thin. And it layers right onto my body and disappears without a trace. The only sign that it was even there in the first place? My hella-hydrated skin.

Usually, once the temps start to drop in NYC, I find myself reaching for thicker creams to keep any scaly skin at bay. But this one layers just as well as those heavyweight options—my skin's thirst for moisture is quenched, no matter how cold it is outside. A lotion that I can use year-round is something that's far and few between, IMO.

The formula is next level.

All that long-lasting hydration is thanks to the moisture-filled formula. The ingredients list reads like a starting lineup for a championship skincare team. There's vitamin E, an antioxidant that blocks free-radicals from aging your skin while also keeping it super soft and supple. Niacinamide is also an MVP ingredient—it fights breakouts, fades dark spots, and soothes redness.

The exfoliating papain enzyme is basically like the point guard—by clearing away dead skin cells, it gets rid of blockage for smoother and brighter skin while also creating space for the other players ingredients to penetrate your skin and do their job. Also swirling around in this mixture? Ceramides (to strengthen your skin's outer barrier), hyaluronic acid (to lock in hydration), and vitamin C (to help smooth out baby wrinkles and leave your skin glowy).

It's shelfie-worthy and tattoo-friendly.

Hear me out: The packaging looks just as good as the formula works. It reminds me of a black Aston Martin Superleggerait's sleek and clean, sharp and smooth. It also looks very grown-up and deliberate, there's no unnecessary frills, just like the formula (which is free of fragrances, parabens, and phthalates, BTW).

Brian Woo (aka Dr. Woo), the man behind the lotion, is an LA-based tattoo artist who's known for his hyper-detailed designs, and he's worked on everyone from Justin Bieber to Zoë Kravitz. He knows skin, and according to an interview with W, he wanted to create a line that would level up the look of your skin, while also keeping it hydrated and protected. It's not a line just for people with tattoos, but, "If your skin is at the best it can be, the tattoos that live in your skin will also be portrayed on the best canvas," says Woo.

Another reason I'm so into this lotion? I have four tattoos, one of which is a fine-line script that lives on my neck. Not that I just throw any random cream on my other tattoos, but they're in spots that are less delicate—ribs, wrist, back. Your skin on your neck is way more fragile, and if you don't take care of it correctly, it can start to blur and fade as you age. I didn’t really know exactly what to put on my neck tattoo that wouldn't ruin it, so I'd rub a baby lotion on it and call it a day. Now, I reach for this super-hydrating moisturizer, layering it on my ink and gently massaging it in.

It's $$$ but it's worth it.

At $40, this moisturizer is pricier than the drugstore bottles you might be used to grabbing off the shelves, but it’s worth it. I mean, how many lotions give your body this many skincare benefits? Its non-irritating formula improves your skin's moisture levels, texture, and tone, all without leaving behind a greasy residue. Plus, when you think about how much you spend on serums and moisturizers for your face, the cost is still low enough for anyone who wants to put a little more effort into their body care routine. Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed.
