Border services agents protest job cuts at Montreal's Trudeau airport

Canada Border Security agents represented by the Customs and Immigration Union are staging a demonstration at Montreal's Trudeau airport today to protest recent job cuts.

Union president Jean-Pierre Fortin said that cutbacks have created a more dangerous situation for Canadians.

The automated kiosks that are replacing border and security agents could lead to an increase in criminals and drug smugglers entering the country, said Fortin.

About 200 union members are protesting against the loss of jobs, saying that the kiosks cannot replace well-trained agents and customs inspectors.
