Gordon Hayward’s wife, Robyn, announces birth of fourth child ahead of Game 4 against Miami

Gordon Hayward had something much more important than basketball on his mind on Wednesday.

Gordon’s wife, Robyn, announced the birth of their fourth child on Instagram on Wednesday — just hours before the Boston Celtics are set to take on the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals at Walt Disney World.

Gordon Theodore Hayward — or G.T., as Gordon likes to call him — is the couple’s first son.

Hayward stayed in bubble amid playoff run

Gordon left the bubble briefly to be with his wife during the playoffs after he suffered an ankle sprain in the Celtics opening series last month.

He finally returned to the lineup in Game 3 on Saturday, and appeared to be the push that the Celtics needed to finally pick up a win after dropping the first two games of the series to the Heat.

Gordon had hoped to time out the birth of his son with his ankle recovery, so that he could do both things while at home with his family. After getting that time at home, however, Gordon said he and Robyn decided he would remain with the Celtics in Florida instead.

“Robyn could be having a baby at any point in time so I think it’s probably something that I’ll be here and, by the time I get back, I might miss the birth if she just goes in and rushes into the hospital,” he said on Saturday. “So we discussed it, we prayed about it, and I think it’s probably best if I stay here and help our team.”
