Boy, 12, found dead after apparent drowning near Estevan, Sask.

RCMP looking for suspect in Green Lake, Sask., incident, 2 men charged

Mounties and an underwater recovery team have found the body of a 12-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday while swimming in southern Saskatchewan.

The boy was located shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday approximately 30 metres offshore on the beach side of the Boundary Dam Reservoir at Woodlawn Regional Park, south of Estevan, Sask.

RCMP had been searching for the boy since they were called to the park Sunday, about a possible drowning.

Police said the boy was swimming with another person when he was spotted going under the water.

RCMP's underwater recovery team completed multiple dives late Sunday night but were unsuccessful. The search resumed Monday at around 8 a.m. CST.

Estevan Traffic Services, Carlyle Traffic Services and Carlyle RCMP also helped with the search. Carlyle is a town 100 kilometres northeast of Estevan.

The RCMP thanked the public for their help over the last day.
