A 5-year-old boy has been found after going missing overnight at a California campsite, officials said.

The boy was reported missing after wandering off while his family was preparing dinner at the Mammoth Pool Reservoir Campground shortly before 7 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 3, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Authorities carried out a preliminary search of the campsite area in an attempt to locate him, which continued into the night. Early the next morning, diving and mountain rescue teams joined the ongoing search operation.

The boy was later found by a camp worker at around 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at a road near the campsite.

The boy was later identified as Jack Adams by his father, Brett Adams, and other family members in the comments section of the Facebook post.

“Thank you so much to all involved, we are beyond relieved,” Brett wrote in response to the happy update.
