Boy George has revealed mum Dinah O'Dowd has been discharged from hospital after she was admitted earlier this month for suspected heart and lung problems.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on Good Morning Britain today (27 April), George shared his relief and revealed the admission was nothing to with COVID-19.

He went on to say “it wasn’t what we initially thought” but did not clarify what the health issue was.

Speaking via video call, the Culture Club singer said: "My mum is good, back home now.

“She was in hospital for two days. Luckily it was not corona related, so that was good, and it wasn’t what we initially thought.

“My mum’s 82 - it’s not the best place for her to be. But having said that, the people at Greenwich Hospital were so great to her, and I managed to speak to her on the phone and that was really funny.”

Talking about her time in hospital, he added: "The nurse was singing to my mum and my mum said 'I can’t hear ya take your mask off!' But obviously the nurse said she can’t."

George told fans of his mum's ill-health mid-April via social media. He tweeted: "My beautiful mum is in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Woolwich.

"A problem with her heart or lungs. She’s stable but they have said they won’t resuscitate her if things go wrong? Apparently, it won’t work? How can they know. Please pray! @LG_NHS."

While chatting to Lorraine, George also spoke of self-isolation and the challenge of staying motivated.

He said: “I’m keeping in touch with family and friends and doing stuff online, making silly videos keeping myself entertained.

“Trying to exercise - even if it means walking round the room, setting my clock for 15 minutes and walking up and down.

“It’s a challenging time to stay motivated. That’s the thing. It’s the sort of “unknowingness” of the moment.

“So, I tend to be doing one thing at one minute and another thing at another. Maybe that’s what I’m like anyway. It’s just that I’ve been given the opportunity to really see myself.”
