Brace yourselves for April showers — all week long

Between 20-40 millimetres of rain coming to Toronto, but city says it's 'the intensity' that matters

Get out your umbrella and galoshes — it could be a full workweek of April showers.

There's a 30 per cent chance of showers this morning and a high of 10 C, with 15 to 25 mm of rain also expected this evening and a low of 8 C.

Environment Canada has Toronto under a special weather statement on Monday, saying there's "significant early April rainfall on tap."

"A large and moisture laden Texas low is forecast to track towards the Great Lakes today, crossing Lake Huron and Georgian Bay into Central Ontario on Tuesday," the agency says.

"Rain from this low will move into areas extending from the Golden Horseshoe to Lake Huron by early this evening, then spread northeast to remaining regions including the National Capital by midnight."

Total rainfall of 20 to 30 mm expected

Periods of rain are expected to continue on Tuesday, resulting in a "wet, dull and dreary day," with total rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm.

Periods of rain through the rest of the workweek as well, with temperatures ranging from double-digit highs to chilly evening lows in the negatives.

In brighter news, the weekend is expected to be sunny and warm.
